Cody—a brief timeline

9th Grade: Cody holds his friend Travis (and his laptop) hostage for 9 hours to edit a Spanish Final. It’s the most fun he’s had in his life.

Senior in high school: Cody gets into UC Irvine’s Film and Media Studies program, moves there with Scott and learns words like mise en scène

Junior in college: Frustrated with nothing but theory, Cody builds a computer and teaches himself how to use After Effects

Post-grad: Cody uses this skill more than his degree, freelancing as a motion graphics designer and video editor. He moonlights another job that offers benefits. He starlights a third job when he learns about tax brackets the hard way.

2018: Cody takes a teaching position at his old high school. Everyone complains about the wages, but it’s more than he’s making working three jobs!

2018: Cody understands the thing about the wages.

2019: Cody turns the 9th grade Theatre Arts class into a Film and Media Studies class. Some of the students say it’s the most fun they’ve had in their lives, but Cody suspects they are manipulating him.

2020: Cody makes a dumb cop show with his friends. It’s hardly a beginning, but somehow it feels like one

2021: Cody breaks camera glass while working on his friend’s masters thesis. Rickie slides between the pieces, and somehow repairs his heart

2024: Cody incorporates a film company with his friends
